Campus development

It is a central aspiration of the University to provide a mix of facilities on the campus; facilities required to create a vibrant sustainable community, where active interaction between students and staff allows ideas to be easily exchanged. Future Buildings will include an interdisciplinary research centre and a doctoral training centre, flexible-use accommodation to respond quickly to commercial opportunities, interactive and collaborative space making research available to the public including through the learning grid, and living accommodation on campus for staff, students and visitors.

The ability to build on its existing campus rather than set up a satellite site elsewhere is integral to IUEA’s future success. If the campus were to operate from separate sites, this would have a detrimental effect on interdisciplinary research, it would significantly increase management and administration costs, result in the duplication of key support facilities, and lead to a substantial increase in travel overall between campuses.

The Future Plan

The Current Future Plan Framework is the guideline for campus development over the next 10 years. The Framework does not dictate the exact timing or configuration of new structures; it provides recommendations for growth and serves as a guide for the University to work in for capital improvements. The plan update provides a framework for growth and development of the Kansanga Campus for the next 10 years.

The 2010 Comprehensive Future Plan makes recommendations for:

  • Sustainability
  • Ultra modern Students Hostel
  • Parking & Alternative Transportation
  • Better Instruction Spaces
  • Recreation & Amenities for the Campus
  • Open Spaces
