On Sunday 30th January, IUEA students and staff traveled to Kabale to pay last respect to him before he was laid to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the staff included the Vice Chancellor, Prof Emeka Akaezuwa. He described the fallen Chancellor as a role model who for 12 years, gave education at IUEA a very strong footing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a great loss to the university, for the 12 years we have worked with Prof. Mutebile, he gave our education a very strong footing and a path of excellence and integrity.” <\/p>– Prof. Emeka<\/strong> said<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He also stated that Late Mutebile was a big inspiration to students, as he urged them in all of his appearances to learn from him and to contribute to the advancement of their economy in some way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile was also a strong promoter of talents such as boxing and innovation. He established the IUEA talent scholarships<\/a>, from which hundreds have benefited and are continuing to benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He has also helped with a lot of scholarships in sports and innovation, that is what we have lost at IUEA.”<\/p>– Prof. Emeka<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“Though he is not with us, we have learnt a lot from him and we will continue on the path that he has helped the university to set.” <\/p>– Prof. Emeka<\/strong> sadly added.<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that, Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile was a man of numerous responsibilities in addition to being IUEA Chancellor. He was the governor of the Bank of Uganda for 21 years among others. Many credit him for being the architect of Uganda’s economic recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He died in Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment after years of battling diabetes and other health difficulties, including amputation of his legs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
