The monetisation of culture has fueled job creation, economic growth, and soft power expansion, offering a model for other African nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the International University of East Africa (IUEA), we recognise that culture fuels innovation. By embracing diversity, fostering creativity, and leveraging technology, we provide students with an environment where cultural expression is not only celebrated but also nurtured into career opportunities. Since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policycenter.ma\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-06\/PP_09-24%20%28Zineb%20Faidi%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nigerian Film Corporation\u2019s establishment in 1979<\/a>, Nollywood has produced films that weave Nigerian traditions, language, and fashion into globally appealing narratives. This has made Nigerian movies distinctive, relatable, and commercially successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Economic Impact:<\/strong> Nollywood is Nigeria\u2019s second-largest employer, generating millions of jobs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policycenter.ma\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-06\/PP_09-24%20%28Zineb%20Faidi%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In 2019, the industry earned $16 million in revenue.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Global Reach:<\/strong> Nigerian films are streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube, exposing audiences worldwide to Nigeria\u2019s culture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At IUEA, we celebrate the power of film. We have hosted <a href=\"https:\/\/iuea.ac.ug\/blog\/oyo-rwenzori-mountain-expedition-premiere-at-iuea\/\">movie premieres with powerful social messages<\/a> and provided platforms for <a href=\"https:\/\/iuea.ac.ug\/blog\/kyaddala-season-2-to-feature-iuea-students\/\">students to participate in major productions<\/a>.
