The International University of East Africa (IUEA) ushered in a new chapter with the swearing-in ceremony of our 10th Students’ Guild Office<\/a> on April 1, 2025. Congratulations to Daniel Mayen, our newly elected Guild President, and Osama Barkhad, the Vice Guild President! Their election reflects the trust and confidence placed in them by their fellow students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per tradition, the IUEA electoral commission\u2014entirely composed of students\u2014oversaw both the election process and the inauguration ceremony. But beyond the formalities, what does this leadership transition mean for IUEA? What role does the Students’ Guild Office play in shaping student life? Let\u2019s explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introducing IUEA\u2019s 10th Students\u2019 Guild Office<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith great power comes great responsibility.\u201d No student understands this better than the Guild President. Now that Guild President Daniel Mayen (South Sudan) and Vice Guild President Osama Barkhad (Somalia) have officially assumed office, the focus shifts to their vision for IUEA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his campaign, Guild President Daniel summarised his priorities in a simple yet impactful acronym: MASS\u2014Mentorship, Advocacy, Service Delivery, and Security. Here\u2019s what that means for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mentorship: Strengthening Academic and Professional Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guild President Daniel\u2019s manifesto placed academics at the forefront\u2014a stance that sets this administration apart. While academic excellence is already a cornerstone of IUEA, his focus on mentorship could signal a shift toward even greater scholastic support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
