First, I want to inform you that we have not received any information from our health staff regarding incidences of Covid-19 on campus. This is very good news for which I want to thank everyone for sticking to the SOPs on campus. I want to urge you to continue sticking to the SOPs because that is the only way we can keep Covid-19 at bay. And as is still the law, all students and staff are required to continue to observe Uganda Ministry of Health\u2019s Covid-19 guidelines: wearing a mask at all times and maintaining social distancing in all facilities while on campus. Before entering the university, temperature checks are performed at the gates and hand sanitizer provided. Please continue to comply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, please stay at home if you have any covid symptoms such as flu, cough, etc. Posters detailing SOPs and symptoms of Covid are available all over campus for reference. Also, I want to encourage all members of staff and all students to get their vaccinations as soon as possible. Vaccines save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third, we most probably have all read or heard in the media of the rise of Covid-19 cases in the country and of the possibility of a second lockdown. Management is monitoring the situation closely and will comply with any directive from the government. Management will also communicate to you officially, after hearing from the government, what our next steps will be should there be a second lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since September 2020, IUEA has been able to provide you, our students, the ability to continue to study without interruptions. We were able to do this because of our online platform \u2013 the IUEA Online University platform. I am happy to inform you that unlike other universities that discontinued their online platform, IUEA did not discontinue but continued to improve its online platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the event there is a second total lockdown, we will simply continue to teach all courses online. Should there be a partial lockdown, we may have to conduct some classes on campus. I want to reassure to you that in any event, teaching and learning at IUEA will not be interrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
