IUEA Update on School Reopening and IUEA’s Distance Learning

Dear IUEA students

Once again, greetings to you and to your family, I hope you are well and safe. This is an update regarding school reopening and IUEA’s Online platform that will enable you to finish your studies quickly.

His Excellency, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni addressed the nation yesterday. In his speech, he stated that universities will remain closed. He said that the Ministry of Education and Sports, together with the Ministry of Health, would come up with a strategy that will allow schools to either reopen in September or declare a dead year in case a Covid-19 vaccine is not available. The President reiterated the e-learning solution universities are already implementing as a way forward for educational institutions.

With regards to e-learning, I am happy to inform you that IUEA Online, our e-learning platform is available now. And IUEA Online is open to all students. IUEA Online will allow you to continue your studies so you can graduate as quickly as possible. I know that most of you final year students have just a few weeks of learning to complete your studies, as such, we have made plans for you to complete the few weeks you have left online.

For those of you, who cannot study online, do not worry. IUEA has planned for you to finish your studies when schools reopen. We have ensured that from day one, you will be on your way to completing your studies. We have planned not to disadvantage anyone.

For continuing students, I want you to know that now you have three options: continue face-to-face mode of study, do blended (some years doing face-to-face and some online) and virtual (do all your studies online). Let us know which mode of study is more applicable to your situation. IUEA is here to work with you.

For new students, IUEA online will begin the new semester in September 2020. Forms can be obtained online and we have a call center that will help you with any questions you may have. Again, new students have the same face-to-face, blended or virtual mode of study choice.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you when either the President or the Minister for Education and Sports updates us about either reopening.

Please keep checking the IUEA website for official communication on reopening and on our online platform.

I thank you very much for your patience and support. Stay safe till we meet again.
