This year, Club dome announced that Adekunle Gold and South Africa’s Costa Titch would be headlining their 2022 “futuristic” return after the two-year Covid-19 hiatus.
The Club also confirmed that they would be taking the event to different regions of Uganda as it did before, targeting young millennials in tertiary institutions and various universities in Uganda.
Since IUEA is among the official sponsors of the highly anticipated event, its students are set to have a light family moment with the Nigerian superstar, Adekunle Gold, ahead of his live concert in Kampala scheduled to take place at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Saturday, July 16th, 2022.
Adekunle Gold will also tour the beautiful IUEA campus before gracing the campus auditorium stage that already awaits him.
Having four albums in his pocket, the 35-year-old Adekunle Gold (AG Baby) has been a major influential music artist in Nigeria and across Africa for various hit singles, the most recent being Sinner, Okay, It is what it is, and Something Different.
IUEA students and neighbouring campusers, on the other hand, can’t wait to welcome Adekunle Gold. IUEA guild president Mr Mubembe Nathan and his cabinet say they are equally excited.
“As the guild, this show means a lot to us. We are an international university with different cultures, which I believe is a vital resource for learning and exchanging cultures with each other. No one should miss this show. “
– Mr Mubembe said.
Other top African artists performing at the main concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval on July 16th, in addition to Adekunle Gold, include Sheebah Karungi, John Blaq, Vinka, Daddy Andre, Starmade, Dimitri, Bella, Kataleya and Kandle.
Tickets for the main concert are available at a discount to only IUEA students in the marketing and guild offices. Ordinary goes for Shs. 35,000, while VIP goes for Shs. 75,000 only.
At a press conference held last month where different sponsors such as Club Pilsner, Petrok, Hulivo, Roke Telecom and Radio City were unveiled, IUEA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa, highlighted why the university has decided to sponsor such an event.
“We are looking forward to not just sponsoring music events such as the upcoming concert but also having the first Entertainment Faculty in East Africa.”
– Vice-Chancellor Emeka Akaezuwa stated
We have witnessed several artists join IUEA to pursue their academic dreams. BET award-winning artist Eddy Kenzo also recently joined the great institution, and he hopes to start classes come August 2022 Intake.
