This year’s theme, “Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” underscores our commitment to shaping future leaders in a rapidly evolving world. With over 500 graduates from various faculties, the event was a vibrant celebration of innovation, academic excellence, and boundless opportunity. From inspiring speeches to groundbreaking announcements, let’s revisit the highlights of this monumental day.

How Our Chancellor Inspires Excellence and Recognition!

The ceremony began with a grand procession led by our Chancellor, Amb. Dr. Amina Chawir Mohammed, accompanied by the University Council, Board of Trustees, faculty, and Mr. and Miss IUEA. Energetic drumming filled the air, creating an atmosphere of excitement as the procession advanced to the auditorium.

This year, we celebrated not just our graduates but also our Chancellor’s incredible achievements. Recently named one of the Women Trailblazers of 2024, Amb. Dr. Amina Chawir Mohammed continues to inspire us all with her visionary leadership. Among the most reputable Africans, her continued recognition is a testament to her dedication to education and her profound impact on the African continent.

What Global Opportunities Await Our Graduates?

This year’s ceremony wasn’t just about celebrating past accomplishments, it also opened doors to the future. S.M Owasiul Islam, CEO of Washi Global Co LTD, unveiled exciting education and career opportunities in Japan. He highlighted Japan’s position as a technological powerhouse, making it an ideal destination for graduates in cutting-edge fields like Mechatronics and Robotics.

Addressing common challenges such as cultural shock and language barriers, he assured students that Washi Global Co LTD offers guidance to help them adapt seamlessly. He also revealed scholarships for East African students and the potential to earn up to $900 per month while studying in Japan. This collaboration reflects IUEA’s commitment to providing our graduates with global opportunities to thrive.

The week leading up to graduation was filled with joy and excitement. From t-shirt signings and student parties to photo booths brimming with smiles, the spirit of celebration was infectious. On the big day, friends, families, and guardians gathered to honour the achievements of our graduates, capturing moments of pride and joy.

  • Gael Ongoriko, founder of Pionex Innovation Labs, a startup revolutionising virtual reality in education and training.
  • Published literary works such as “Chance to Man” by Constantin Kagu and “Eager Thoughts” by Ater Kot Ater.

IUEA has long been a pioneer in integrating AI into education, being the first university in Uganda to teach AI in 2015. During the ceremony, Prof. Akaezuwa announced plans to launch a Ph.D. program in AI, reaffirming our position as a leader in academic innovation.
