Hon. Kakura sent out a notice to the students last week on 21st April, calling upon potential candidates to pick up nomination forms.
“The electoral commission hereby informs all Students of IUEA that the electoral process to hold the guild elections of 2022 has commenced and therefore calls upon potential candidates to pick nomination forms starting Monday 25/04/2022 from the office of the electoral commission.” EC stated in the notice.
The EC chairperson also clarified that only one person would be voted for each post, no deputies or assistants.
The posts available are;
- Guild President
- Vice president
- Faculty of Engineering Representative
- Faculty of Science and Technology representative
- Faculty of Business and Management Representative
- Faculty of Law Representative
- Hostel Representatives (boys’ and girls’ hostel)
- Postgraduate representative
- Freshers representative
Some of the Activities on the roadmap include System Testing as the students will cast their votes Online, the same as last year. This is to oversee and deal away with any technical glitches that may challenge the possibility of a free and fair election.
So far, one person has expressed interest in running for the presidency, Mwesigwa Joseph Raymon, former Mr. IUEA 2018. He is currently in his third year pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Voting and announcement of results will take place on Friday, 20th May 2022.
